‘Inspiring Communities’ is a six week introductory course which explores the potential of culture and volunteering to build creative and resilient communities. The course is facilitated by social entrepreneur Conor O’ Leary of Artlands. This course will begin on Tuesday 31st January 2012 at 2p.m. and run every Tuesday for 6 weeks in Arklow Further Education Centre.

The course will focus on how communities, voluntary groups, interested individuals and artists can enhance the cultural life of local areas. The workshop/s will include successful case studies from a number of communities which are successfully promoting arts and cultural activities, and practical exercises with ample opportunity for participants to learn from each other. The programme will also assist participants to develop ideas for actual projects or events and is suitable for those with or without prior experience.

For participants who wish to further develop their skills and ideas, a further 8 week programme in Community and Cultural Event Production will be available which can lead to accreditation in a FETAC Level 5 module.
